BRANDING THE STORY
The goal of this press kit was to establish a cohesive and memorable brand identity for a fictional film adaptation of the book Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter. The branding draws heavily from the book’s core themes of trauma, transformation, and teenage resilience in a supernatural world.
The press kit blends horror and fantasy elements to reflect the duality of the story: an innocent protagonist forced into a grim, undead reality. The skeletal makeup and vintage dress balance vulnerability with strength, helping define the visual identity of the fictional film’s marketing.
Both the typography and the color palette are used as a Brand Voice. The title typography mimics distressed, horror-inspired lettering to visually represent chaos, while supporting fonts maintain legibility and structure. Selective red highlights reinforce brand messaging around danger, fear, and emotional urgency. Muted teals, soft pinks, and stark black-and-white tones create contrast between life and death, innocence and violence. These hues help anchor the film’s identity in the Young Adult paranormal genre while distinguishing it from more traditional zombie media.
Through custom photography, curated cast bios, and mock quotes, the press kit tells a clear story: this is a film with emotional weight, dark humor, and high-stakes romance. Every element was chosen to attract its target audience of teen and young adult viewers drawn to edgy, emotional, genre-bending stories.
The result is a distinct, stylized brand that’s immediately recognizable and narratively consistent across all deliverables.
